I think there are good and bad, as with every field. I don't think 2 is enough of a sample pool to declare them all bad.

I HATE vets
by Xanthippe intook one of my cats to the vet two weeks ago, she gets dermatitis from flea bites and although she gats flea treatment every four weeks the skin problem flares up about every two years.
so i asked for her usual steroid tablets which clear it up in about a week but no this young vet about 25 thought she should have a steroid injection and an antibiotic.
didn't work and she's much worse.. went back today and another vet said can't give you the tablets because the injection is still in her system and lasts 6 weeks.

The Nexus appealed to me: "it was like being inside joy". It reminded me of what Gods Kingdom will be like.
From what I recall from the movie, the nexus destroyed everything in its path, and created a false sense of joy for everyone who got caught up in it.

Was a huge fan of TNG. Favorite episode was "Yesterday's Enterprise" where they alter the present by rescuing a ship from the past that is caught in a time rift. They resurrect Tasha Yar for that one episode.
The one where Picard gets captured by the Borg was a great episode, too.

"Confidential" JW.ORG Video Project Leaked
by Emery insyneidos posted some interesting information on reddit regarding jw.org's latest project for the upcomming 2015 memorial campaign.. for next year's 2015 memorial campaign, jw.org is producing an invitational video featuring jesus.
the video is still being filmed at the moment and i was told it was super "confidential.
" my source already saw several scenes from it and said, "it looks and feels like a cinematic movie.

Except we go to watch Iron Man to be entertained, no one really believes he's going to be our savior when Loki, erm, I mean Satan attacks.
Of course not. That's what Thor is there for.

Why don't parents of an abused child go straight to police, why go to an elder first??
by FeelingFree ini hope i don't come across as judgemental but having read a lot on the current child abuse cases and the different threads on here, i am left wondering why on earth a parent of an abuse victim would go to an elder with the problem first and not straight to police?.
as a parent myself i know that if anything like that happend to my child (this applies to when i was still an active jw as well as now) i would not hesitate in going to the authorities as soon as i found out, it wouldn't of crossed mine or my husbands mind to go to an elder.
maybe after we had reported it but definitely never as the first port of call.

I would think that the better question would be: Why doesn't the abused child go directly to the police?
I think the natural instinct of a child, especially a young one, is to go their parents believing they will be a comfort and protection.

Hypocritical video on jw.org "what's a real friend."
by stuckinarut2 inhave you watched the 4 min animated white board drawing video on jw.org called "what's a real friend?".
it is one of the most hypocritical pieces they have produced!.
it goes into detail explaining that real friends "don't judge you, dont talk about you behind your back, don't hold grudges, don't expect you to conform, and encourage individuality!".

Definitely pukeworthy. The sad part is that most JWs won't make the connection between the qualities listed, and how they treat those "friends" who choose to no longer be JWs.

I think they are forcing us to buy HBO...they are making TV so terrible that you have to take a higher package.
I've had the same thought. Even networks like AMC or FX that have better quality programming, aren't on basic packages. You have to buy the most expensive package to actually watch the shows you want.

Sometimes ignorance is a virtue.

How good a boxer was Muhammad Ali?
by LoveUniHateExams inwhen i was a hyperactive kid, i used to like boxing, and of course muhammad ali.
he was a great athlete, with a one-of-a-kind style who made a stand for his beliefs.. now that i'm older, i admire athletes that are quieter and get on with the job in hand - joe frazier, for example.. i'd like to put american racial politics and ali's tragic current condition to one side and focus on the following:.
how good a fighter was ali?.

But if he had been a contemporary of Mike Tyson at his peak, he would have met his match.
Maybe. It would have been great to see a fight of such contrasting styles. But Tyson never fought anyone who was close to Ali's caliber. Holmes was well past his prime when Tyson beat him. And the first time he fought someone who wasn't afraid of him, he lost. But Tyson at his peak, under Cus D'Amato, was ferocious.
